This chapter explores the use of design thinking in STEM Education. It provides insight into the application of design thinking in STEM teaching and learning by drawing on teachers’ narratives about learning experiences that they designed. The chapter starts by providing an overview of design thinking and its usefulness to teachers and students. The four PNG teacher narratives provide rich examples of innovative, design-based learning experiences, aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The chapter concludes by reviewing how the teachers used design thinking to solve problems of practice, and highlights how students learned STEM through design.
