Xylanases serve to hydrolyze xylan, an important plant hemicellulose and break it into Xylo oligosaccharides and xylose. The way they work, depending on the optimal pH and temperature ranges which substances they use and their rate of action, mostly determines their use in industries. Depending on their source and the way they are built, xylanases differ remarkably in their weights, where they are charged and how they hold up at high temperatures. Glycosylation and similar processes greatly improve an enzyme’s strength and solubility, while also protecting it from being destroyed by other enzymes. Also, hydrolysis intermediates such as xylooligosaccharides can interfere with enzyme activity by xylooligosaccharides competing with the main product, making xylooligosaccharides block the enzyme or by reducing how much of the main product is produced despite the presence of plenty of enzyme. It is necessary to understand these biochemical characteristics to make xylanase applications more effective in bioconversion, biofuel development, food processing and the paper and pulp industry. By making xylanases more effective with enzyme engineering and optimization, researchers make them useful for sustainable applications in biotechnology.

摘要
