The utilization of drone technology in sports is experiencing significant growth. Accordingly, this meta-analysis was conducted to assess the advantages provided by drone technology within the sports domain. This study systematically reviewed and analyzed prior research from 2016 to 2024, focusing on various applications of drone technology in sports. Relevant studies were retrieved through academic databases including ScienceDirect and Scopus. The results demonstrate that drone technology offers substantial benefits across multiple areas, including athlete performance analysis, its application in football, broadcasting, position tracking, and ensuring security during sporting events. The predominant research design in the reviewed studies was experimental, aiming to verify the practical benefits of drone technology in sports empirically. In summary, the findings of this meta-analysis provide a foundational resource for future researchers seeking to explore and expand the use of drone technology in the sports field.
