Deciphering the Water Accessibility in Urban Neighbourhoods: A Case of Water Supply in Delhi
摘要
The growing population brings along an increased demand for infrastructure and services in our cities; hence, city managers will never stop working to meet that demand. Water shortage is one of the main bottlenecks to urbanization, together with other fundamental societal needs. The Urban Local Body (ULB) or Municipal Corporation in an urban region takes responsibility to provide safe drinking water and availability of water supply for all domestic, commercial, and industrial purposes, as per the 12th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. According to Sustainable Development Goals, 2030, especially SDG-6, all sections of society should have access to and management of water and sanitation services. This research will evaluate the water accessibility in urban neighbourhoods of Delhi and will also assess the role of Urban Local Body and other agencies in it.
