Pressure Drop Prediction Model for Bingham Plastic Slurries
摘要
A new model for the prediction of pressure drop for Bingham plastic slurries is proposed. Study of rheological models is of key importance for the design of slurry pipelines. Bingham plastic slurry model is found to be followed in the industry on a large scale for which pressure drop is required to be estimated. In this study, the laboratory test results (rheological and slurry pipeline test loop results) of such slurries are utilised to obtain a new model. Test results available in (Kumar in Experimental investigations and Cfd modeling of hydraulic conveying through pipeline, [2]) are used to study the flow behaviour of slurry flow through pipeline. Rheological and slurry pipeline test loop results for fly ash and iron ore slurries for different volumetric concentrations, i.e. 16.6%, 23.48%, 31% (iron ore slurry), 41.53%, 43.52% and 46.61% (fly ash slurry), are used for analysis. Predicted results hold good agreement with the experimental data.
