Evaluation of Solar Chimney for Passive Cooling and Ventilation of Building: Experimental and Simulation Approach
摘要
In this study, the experimental investigation was carried out on a cubical wooden box of the dimensions of 1 × 1 × 1 m to analyses the performance of air change per hour from 8:00 AM to 6 PM on the date of 10 July 2024 at Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, Rajasthan. Experimental results were validated using the MATLAB (R2020a) simulation software. The results show solar chimneys can improve cooling, ventilation, thermal comfort and indoor air quality in hot climates. The results show that the amount of air flow ranges from 1.6 to 3.2 m3/s. The payback period for the experimental setup is about 0.75 years. The results show that the amount of ACH ranges from 2 to 5.6 air changes per hour. During the experiment, the air velocity increased with increasing temperature as a result of that the sufficient ACR can be developed through solar chimney and a small 3–5 °C temperature have been decreased of the experimental room.
