The study of the geography of financial centres can be traced back to the 1970s. Since then, there has been increasing numbers of literature on this subject. Interestingly, the studies of financial centres are not just limited to the discipline of geography, but many others such as sociology, economics, and finance. The chapter provides a brief but broad overview on the literature of geography of finance with reference to financial centres development, competition and cooperation. More literature review is also presented and incorporated in Chaps. 3 , 4 and 5 : theoretical development and framework for IFCs formation and development.
