No Sedation Vs. Light Sedation in Mechanically Ventilated Patients: The NONSEDA Trial
摘要
Could a no-sedation policy improve outcomes in ventilated ICU patients? The NONSEDA trial investigated whether a strategy of no sedation compared with light sedation would result in improved outcomes in mechanically ventilated patients. This multicenter randomized trial enrolled critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation and assigned them to either nonsedation or light sedation with daily interruption. The study found no significant difference in mortality between the groups; besides, the duration of mechanical ventilation, ICU, and hospital stay were also similar.
