Chronic pain is more prevalent in older adults than younger individuals. Managing pain in this population presents unique challenges due to factors such as altered pain perception, physiological changes, comorbidities, and polypharmacy. This chapter offers a comprehensive overview of the epidemiology of chronic pain in older adults, the physiological changes that contribute to pain, the challenges in managing it, and strategies for assessment and treatment. It will also explore both pharmacological and interventional approaches to effective pain management in older persons.
