In this study, I investigate the role of knowledge-based career capital, comprising three key dimensions—knowing why, knowing whom, and knowing how—as critical predictors of individuals’ subjective career success, including career satisfaction and job satisfaction. Using data from 1268 Korean employees, predictions were tested using a hierarchical multiple regression analysis and dominance analysis. The results support the importance of knowledge-based career capitals composed of three ways of knowing, as suggested in previous theoretical work. On the other hand, the findings of this study demonstrated that knowing how is most significantly related to individuals’ subjective career success, revealing a different outcome from Western context studies emphasizing knowing why. I discuss the potential influence of different cultural contexts to determine the importance of three ways of knowing in predicting subjective career success.

摘要
