Joint Preservation Combined with Orthognathic Surgery for Temporomandibular Joint-Originated Dentofacial Deformities
摘要
This chapter addresses Class IIb of Yang’s modified classification, i.e., Class II encompasses dental and maxillofacial deformities secondary to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) diseases, and within this, Class IIb includes only salvageable cases where the condyle is salvageable, in contrast to Class IIa, where the condyle is non-salvageable. Class IIb cases can be treated with a combination of joint preservation surgery and orthognathic orthodontics, but they do not require the use of a prosthesis joint replacement.
