Defining and Enforcing Net Zero Carbon Governance for a Corporation Operating in the Agricultural Sector in Italy through Consumer Protection
摘要
What does the obligation to curb GHG emissions practically entail for a corporation operating in the agricultural sector in Italy? Although hundreds of scholars have articulated and promoted their own alternative definition of ‘sustainable development’ and ‘climate sustainability’, a clear definition has not yet been achieved. While this has led some authors to consider ‘climate sustainability’ and ‘sustainable development’ contradictory concepts, each attempt is an important part of an ongoing dialogue. This chapter aims to circumscribe the notions of ‘sustainable development’ and ‘climate sustainability’ and to consider key questions concerning implementation and enforcement in this respect. Against this background, the chapter highlights the importance of certifications through independent assessment for the purpose of enforcing the duty to curb GHG emissions in the specific case of a company operating in the agricultural sector that has been producing wine in Italy since the nineteenth century.
