A Comparative Study of Key Performance Indicators and Network Optimization of Cement Distribution Network in Kerala
摘要
This study examines the logistics and operations of a cement distribution supply chain in Kerala, India. The objective is to optimize the location of warehouses and the arrangement of transportation networks in order to maximize financial profit, using anyLogistix software. An analysis was conducted on the existing system which consisting of nine warehouses, and a Green Field Analysis (GFA) determined the most favourable new locations for nine warehouses. The proposed system was enhanced using Network Optimization (NO) techniques. The purpose of the study is to analyse the cost and profit associated with the existing supply chain system of cement distribution in the state of Kerala. This study attempts to offer a comprehensive solution for maximizing profit in complex supply chains by strategically finding warehouses locations and designing transportation networks. The findings indicated that strategically positioning two warehouses might result in a profit increase of 1.325% in comparison with the current system. This enhancement can be attributed to the decrease in transportation expenses and also the reduction in operational costs of warehouses.
