Transportation plays a vital role in all kinds of development, such as industrial, residential, and commercial, whereas urbanization is an indicator of the level of development in any region. In the present day, society demands an efficient and unobstructed road network. Other developed countries have proper planning of road networks, whereas in India, there are many cities that are developed organically. On the other hand, there are some cities that have been developed with proper planning and layout. The use of GIS in urban planning helps and guides planners for the orderly development of infrastructure facilities within and outside urban areas. Urban planners and policymakers should prioritize the implementation of transportation planning frameworks to ensure the efficient use of resources and infrastructure. The study aims at performance evaluation of road network systems in urban areas of Nagpur. Results indicate that in comparison to the organic areas, the planned areas have better road network parameters which promotes efficient movement of vehicles and reduces congestion, thereby improving overall mobility and accessibility.
