This chapter aims to evaluate the standards and capacity of corporate sustainability reporting techniques used by Indian businesses following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI-G4) guidelines. The report adheres to disclosure criteria that include economic, environmental, social, and governance aspects, which form the basis for ranking corporations based on their reporting performance. The study also explores the progress in sustainability reporting among GRI-compliant businesses in India using a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) technique. To assess the quantity and quality of sustainability disclosures within the GRI-G4 framework, a content analysis method is employed. Corporate sustainability reporting (CSR) levels are measured using a binary coding scheme, with “1” indicating disclosure and “0” indicating non-disclosure. The quality of sustainability disclosures is rated on a four-point scale from “0” to “3.” Criteria weights are determined using the MCDM technique, including entropy, and rankings are established using the TOPSIS technique (Technique for Order of Preference to Ideal Solution). This evaluation benefits various stakeholders, such as potential investors, asset managers, rating agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), policymakers like the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, customers, academics, and students, by supporting informed decision making.

摘要
