Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an escalating worldwide menace that presents substantial dangers to human health, biodiversity, and ecosystems. This chapter is devoted to the investigation of the environmental factors of AMR, with an emphasis on how pollutants and human activities affect the emergence and dissemination of resistance. Explaining how AMR develops in the environment, it focuses on the contribution of pharmaceutical production, farming practices, fish farming, water treatment, and human behavior in promoting resistance. AMR is also shown to have environmental consequences in this chapter, such as the influence on ecosystems and biodiversity. These are some of the major issues related to the management of AMR and some of the possible solutions that include regulation, technology, and global partnerships.
