Understanding the Village by Tea Leaves: Community Governance is also Productivity—Case Study of Poverty Alleviation in Organic Tea Industry in Jinlongping Village, Hubei Province
摘要
Based on field observations and in-depth interviews, this paper attempts to tell a story about the “co-change” of agricultural industry development and poverty-stricken rural communities. Unlike the knowledge landscape of existing studies on the social basis of rural industrial development, industrial development in rural area, and the polarization of community, the case of Jinlongping Village organic tea industry poverty alleviation project reveals that the community, as the main body of action, can effectively use national policy support and market resources to realize the industrial development in the community. At the same time, the changes in the village “for development” and the results of “development” have a complex impact in shaping community organization, community governance, and community culture.
