This chapter drills into, and sheds a keen light on, the harmful effects of Artificial Intelligence-embedded technologies on both race and gender. To cater for that, light will be cast upon the concept of Critical Artificial Intelligence Studies (CAIS), which is tightly interlocked with the concept of Algorithmic Common Good (ACG). Critical Artificial Intelligence Studies (CAIS) consists of a tool that seeks to combat any dollop of discrimination enabled by Artificial Intelligence-embedded technologies. By the same token, CAIS seeks to halt both digital racism and digital sexism that arise from an all-out deployment of Artificial Intelligence. CAIS therefore upholds the use of Artificial Intelligence-embedded technologies, but only to the extent that it doesn’t further the yawning gap between races and genders. Hence the overriding importance of Algorithmic Common Good (ACG), which will be fleshed out in Chap. 5 . Critical Artificial Intelligence Studies (CAIS) therefore aims to set out a broad roadmap for the safe use of technology in an overarching sense. To cater for that, whopping efforts are to be poured in as to chart a course, and map out a pathway, forward with a view to anticipating how Artificial Intelligence-embedded technologies may fare in the long-term. I accordingly query how central are the principles underpinning the brawny exercise of authority to secure Algorithmic Common Good (ACG).
