This chapter presents a synthesis of the sustainable agricultural development experiences of the Southeast Asian countries. In doing so, the chapter focuses on initiatives to raise agricultural productivity and end hunger, and to quicken the proliferation of digitalization and strengthening of climate resilience. Despite the uneven nature of development and unequal capabilities differentiating the countries, the chapter argues that the prospects for establishing a climate smart sustainable agriculture system in Southeast Asia look bright. It calls for effective implementation and constant appraisals to strengthen the planning process with strong coordination between central, provincial, and local policies, the constant identification and implementation of best climate smart agricultural practices to enable the member countries to meet the relevant SDGs, even if it means that countries, such as the Philippines, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste may defer their targeted deadlines. Much depends on political stability, continued cooperation among the countries, and strong persuasion to seek diplomacy to achieve political, economic, and social consensus.
