Game Dev Dilemmas: Toward Developing a Game App to Enhance Entrepreneurial Knowledge for Aspiring Game Studio Founders
摘要
This study focuses on the development of an educational game-based application, “Game Dev Dilemmas,” designed to enhance entrepreneurial skills among software developers. The application integrates interactive gameplay with educational elements, specifically targeting the game development life cycle (GDLC), project management methodologies, and real-world challenges faced in the game development industry. The research employs the GDLC method, which involves six phases: initiation, preproduction, production, alpha, beta, and release. Each phase is designed to simulate the actual processes that developers encounter, thereby providing a realistic learning experience. The game was developed using the Unity engine and tested with a diverse group of 30 participants, including both gamers and non-gamers. Results indicate that the game effectively enhances motivation, understanding of entrepreneurial concepts, and analytical skills, regardless of the players’ prior gaming experience. The study concludes that gamification serves as a promising approach for entrepreneurship education, offering a more engaging and effective learning experience compared to traditional educational methods.
