In the context of increasing risks and disasters in the world in general, and Cameroon in particular, it is necessary to explore all management options. Considering the general ecological crisis and the global vision of development, as summarized in the Sustainable Development Goals, the orientation toward nature-based solutions is the most relevant. This is a somewhat new concept and approach for Cameroon. However, the all-out search for risk reduction and adaptation solutions reveals initiatives that deserve to be encouraged, strengthened, and replicated. Likewise, Cameroon presents advantages for the implementation of other strategies presented by the IUCN, and they have already been put into practice in other areas of the world. This study identifies and describes potential nature-based solutions for disaster risk prevention in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Cameroon. The investigation approach was exploratory, descriptive, and analytical in nature. It appears that to reduce risks (prevention), the restoration of wetlands is necessary; in fact, hydraulic developments in these plains have increased the risk. In the current context of humidity, it is necessary to increase the submergence space to reduce the pressure on the dikes. Reforestation or betterment of the creation of plant dikes is also desired. Protecting dikes by revegetating them also has advantages. In terms of adaptation, the creation of reservoirs or overflow zones to contain water during periods of precipitation and flooding is important. This helps contain excess water and prevent flooding. At the agricultural level, changes in practices are necessary.
