Despite the crucial role that programming plays in the digital age, learning programming remains challenging, with studies showing very low pass rates for introductory courses, averaging only 76% across 17 universities. These challenges may stem from the complexity of programming languages, learning difficulties, lack of personalized feedback, and instructional issues. Research suggests that gamification could boost motivation and engagement, while artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs), could enhance the learning experience. Integrating these elements into programming education may help advance Target 4.4 of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which aims to increase the number of youths with relevant skills for financial success. The study used a quantitative approach by administering a 10-question survey to 102 undergraduate students to assess their perception of how gamification and artificial intelligence impact their programming studies. The results indicate that more than 65% of these respondents believe that integrating gamification and LLMs significantly improves their programming learning experience.
