Eco-design and life cycle assessment (LCA) are crucial in enhancing sustainable innovation across different industries. This chapter analyzes how eco-design principles—material efficiency, modularity, recyclability, and energy-efficient production—reduce the environmental impact along the whole product lifecycle. Using actual examples such as Borbonese and Tesla, this chapter demonstrates how companies are attaining sustainability without jeopardizing their performance or brand worth. It also addresses the application of tools like SimaPro and GaBi in assessing environmental effects and informing sound decision-making. ISO 14062 standards, circular economy, and digital technologies like 3D printing and smart systems are addressed. Based on examining challenges such as data shortages and cost pressures, the research proposes recommendations for overcoming these problems and indicates the future potential of eco-design to achieve regulatory compliance, better customer satisfaction, and profitable sustainability.
