Recent progress to obtain hydrogels with biomimetic functions is introduced. Recently developed functions of hydrogels which possess tissue-like functions as tendon, cartilage, muscle-like motility, and ECM-like scaffold for regenerated medicine will be introduced. Reversible sol–gel functions of highly hierarchical cytoskeletal protein gels and on–off drug delivery gels are also focused.
