Mobile Layout Design for Effective Exploration of Food Labeling Information

This study investigates how information should be structured for efficient cognitive processing when providing food labeling information on mobile platforms. To determine how to present various food labeling information, a two-step approach is implemented. Firstly, a survey is conducted to evaluate and categorize the importance of 28 food labeling elements. Based on these categories, the mobile layout is designed. Secondly, eye-tracking techniques are implemented to measure performance time, fixation time, and scan path. This helps identify which layout facilitates optimal eye movement. After the experiment, get qualitative feedback by asking about challenges in information exploration. When providing food labeling information in a mobile environment, it is advisable to use a ‘Tap & List’ layout. This is due to its high satisfaction in terms of both interactive information exploration and usability. Moreover, exploring diverse components of mobile devices as experimental variables will be essential for improving screen design.
