Effective thermal management of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles (EVs) is critical to ensure, safety, enhance performance, and prolong battery life. This chapter presents a novel thermal management system (TMS) for lithium-ion battery packs, focusing on maintain an optimal operating temperature using a fuzzy logic controller. The system integrates an active cooling method that circulates a 50–50 ethylene glycol solution through a cold plate interface with the battery. The primary control mechanism involves a speed controller governed by fuzzy logic, which dynamically adjusts the pump speed based on real-time battery temperature and cooling requirements. Simulation results demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in maintaining thermal stability during various driving cycles and high-power demand scenarios. This study highlights the potential of intelligent control systems like fuzzy logic in enhancing the reliability and safety of EV battery thermal management, contributing to the growing demand for efficient and sustainable electric vehicle technologies.

摘要
