Control of Liquid Level in Stirred Tank Using a Cascade Control Structure
摘要
Precise and efficient liquid level control is essential in the food and beverage production systems. In practice, the liquid level is always influenced by external factors such as sudden failures in pumps, water leaks, the unpredictability in valve positions, among others. Therefore, designing a level control system in a mixing tank that includes a two-closed-loop structure allows for quick mitigation of the damages caused by these factors. Moreover, the two-closed-loop control structure also makes the system more flexible and stable in responding to liquid level changes, thus contributing to improved control quality. This chapter presents the design of a level control system with a tiered control structure, which includes an inner loop controlling the flow by the valve’s opening and an outer loop controlling the level through the speed of the pump motor. The chapter provides a comparison of the results of this structured control with the results from a single-loop control system. The experimental process and verification of the controller's quality are conducted on the CE117 module from TecQuipment.
