The Optimization Problem of Delivery Platforms
摘要
Due to lifestyle changes, the number of people eating out has been increasing year by year, leading to the rise of highly convenient delivery platforms. With the continuous advancement of technology and the growing demand for dining services, the delivery industry is rapidly evolving. Especially under the influence of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for food delivery has surged, further highlighting the importance of couriers. As more people choose to dine at home and more individuals join the courier workforce, the demand for efficient delivery services continues to rise. As a result, improving the operational efficiency of couriers has become a critical issue for the delivery industry. One of the key challenges is how to optimize courier routes in the presence of numerous orders and a high density of couriers, enabling them to complete as many tasks as possible in the shortest amount of time. This paper focuses on investigating the optimization problems of delivery platforms from the consumer’s perspective. The primary objective from this standpoint is to minimize the waiting time for order delivery. To address this issue, this study proposes four heuristic algorithms. In addition to reducing consumer waiting time, the proposed approach also aims to minimize the variation in the number of orders assigned to couriers, thereby improving order distribution fairness and contributing to a more convenient urban lifestyle.
