System thinking, which can reduce the complexity of systems and clarify the interrelationships of the components, has been applied to provide an organized understanding of socio-natural disaster recovery projects. System thinking divided SNDR projects into five sub-systems through a qualitative analysis of the research’s selected resources coded by NVivo 2020. As the project management stage was recognized as the most crowded sub-system, an integrated management framework has been put forward throughout the simultaneous application of the continuous lifespan and project stages. The most significant observation of this study shows the significant role of system thinking in organizing SNDR projects. Moreover, the necessity of applying a continuous lifespan to address projects’ long-term to manage future socio-natural disasters has been highlighted.
