In the pursuit of becoming an advanced city, the concept of quality of life and well-being must shift from a loosely defined aspiration to a measurable and systemic commitment. This commitment is an operational foundation that cities must integrate across social, spatial, economic, and institutional aspects; it is neither idealistic nor abstract. The life-centered approach views well-being as a purposeful, planned result of urban governance and spatial justice rather than as a byproduct of prosperity or infrastructure [1]. Who is the city working for, it asks? Who gains and loses from stability, inclusiveness, and access? The life-centered approach assesses the city’s livability, security, affordability, and fulfillment of daily living for all populations throughout time and geography, as opposed to only performance outcomes.
