Working Through Children’s Images and Moments
摘要
This chapter introduces the children-artists involved in the work, and their art, re/presenting and reclaiming personal priorities, values and identities in ways that reflect their interests, intent and engagement with materials and the social worlds they bring forth through a process of prosthesis and renewal. The images and narrative are woven together through a thematic lineage that is evocative of the commonalities and social acuity dis/abled children experience, internalise, explore and understand across and within national borders. Through their aesthetic and embodied acts of re/presentation and sense making, children revise redundant ideas about their social and familial roles, restoring their insatiable engagement with the world and establishing and stewarding the emancipatory and pedagogical value of art.
