Cities are symbolic systems constituted through visual form, spatial experience, and cultural narration, more than merely spatial containers for socio-economic activists. As the integration of perception, memory, and communication, urban imagery connects material space with social experience and cultural identity, and thus provides a critical theoretical entry point for understanding contemporary urban cultural landscapes. This chapter systematically examines the theoretical relationships among urban imagery, urban memory, and artistic representation, with the aim of establishing an analytical framework for the study of heritage cities and contemporary artistic practices.

摘要

Cities are symbolic systems constituted through visual form, spatial experience, and cultural narration, more than merely spatial containers for socio-economic activists. As the integration of perception, memory, and communication, urban imagery connects material space with social experience and cultural identity, and thus provides a critical theoretical entry point for understanding contemporary urban cultural landscapes. This chapter systematically examines the theoretical relationships among urban imagery, urban memory, and artistic representation, with the aim of establishing an analytical framework for the study of heritage cities and contemporary artistic practices.
