The current chapter presents the scholarship about management and leadership which is highly influenced by western ideologies, conceptualizations, and cultural scripts. It elaborates on western paradigms of leadership/management and contrasts it with the research on African/Asian leadership and management in organization. The chapter then goes on to presented the limited scope of the research on educational leadership in non-western societies and concludes with the methodology used in this work to analyze the biographies of great leaders from Asia and Africa.

摘要
