Needling-Based and Neuromodulatory Interventions
摘要
This chapter examines needling-based and neuromodulatory interventions within an evidence-based recovery framework, with emphasis on dry needling as a modulator of vascular, neuromechanical, and nociceptive responses. It outlines the biological rationale for targeting myofascial trigger points and related soft-tissue dysfunction, and explains how needling may influence local perfusion, tissue oxygenation, muscle stiffness, pain sensitivity, and sensorimotor behavior. The chapter also describes the main tools used to quantify these responses, including algometry, myotonometry, elastography, thermography, near-infrared spectroscopy, and Doppler-based approaches, with attention to validity, reliability, and implementation standards. Practical sections address dose parameters, procedural considerations, athlete-specific application, safety, adverse events, and the cautious integration of electrical augmentation strategies. Throughout, the chapter connects physiological mechanisms with clinically meaningful measurement, helping readers interpret when, how, and why needling interventions may be relevant in recovery-oriented practice.
