Temporomandibular joint disorders represent a heterogeneous group of conditions involving complex interactions between osseous structures, articular soft tissues, neuromuscular components, and functional biomechanics. Clinical presentation is often variable and nonspecific, with symptoms such as pain, joint sounds, and functional limitation showing poor correlation with the underlying structural pathology. As a result, imaging plays a pivotal role in achieving accurate diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning. Advances in maxillofacial imaging have expanded the ability to evaluate both early functional disturbances and established structural degeneration of the temporomandibular joint. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of imaging in temporomandibular joint disorders, emphasizing the role of advanced imaging in assessing joint anatomy, disc–condyle relationships, osseous remodeling, and functional abnormalities. The discussion integrates anatomical principles with imaging interpretation, highlights the strengths and limitations of different imaging approaches, and underscores the importance of correlating imaging findings with clinical presentation. By adopting an integrated imaging perspective, this chapter aims to enhance diagnostic confidence and support evidence-based management of temporomandibular joint disorders.

摘要
