Clinical Audit and Outcomes Review in Clinical Governance
摘要
A key feature of the clinical governance framework is the collection, review, analysis, and benchmarking of clinical outcome data as part of a comprehensive clinical audit program. This includes the triangulation of audit data with clinical incidents, coding data, and case review. The maturity of a clinical outcome and clinical data monitoring program in a hospital significantly depends on the direction of the board and their review of such data, the importance the executives place on the program achieving meaningful improvement, and the preparedness of clinicians, particularly medical staff, to be active participants. Clinician involvement and engagement in the collation of clinical indicators and outcome data and review of cases through an audit program is a fundamental aspect of achieving improvements in patient care.
