The Potential of Nanoantennas
摘要
Nanoantennas, with their capability to regulate and control electromagnetic (EM) waves at the nanoscale, have been raised as a cutting-edge technology finding diverse uses in nanophotonics, sensing, and communication systems. This chapter provides an extensive evaluation of nanoantenna design and augmentation via metamaterials. Metamaterials, with their exceptional EM properties, have transformed nanophotonics, particularly when integrated with nanoantennas, offering intriguing prospects for customizing light-matter interactions. This abstract delves into the potential of metamaterials to enhance nanoantenna performance. It begins by examining the fundamental principles of nanoantennas and addressing their efficiency and tunability limitations. Next, we explore the realm of metamaterials and their capacity for tailored manipulation of EM fields, achieving groundbreaking outcomes. Additionally, the abstract underscores practical applications of metamaterial-amplified nanoantennas, notably in nanoscale imaging, sensing, and energy capture. These feats arise from careful control of EM resonances and efficient coordination of the interactions between light and matter. Moreover, we underscore the capacity of metamaterials to facilitate the dynamic adjustment of nanoantenna characteristics. The integration of adaptable materials like liquid crystals or phase-change materials empowers nanoantennas to accommodate shifts in environmental conditions and operating wavelengths. Finally, we examine the hurdles and future potential of merging metamaterials with nanoantennas, encompassing the scalability of fabrication methods and the evolution of practical applications. The prospect of leveraging metamaterials to elevate nanoantenna capabilities offers significant promise for the progression of nanophotonics, paving the way for novel advancements in communication, sensing, and imaging technologies. This abstract establishes a platform for deeper exploration of this dynamic field, where metamaterials play a central role in shaping the future of nanoantenna technology.
