Recent evolutions in the videogame environment have shown that children are becoming more avid videogame players and that videogame companies increasingly rely on chance-based microtransactions as a means to generate revenues. Combined with data-driven videogame design and behavioural design practices, the current situation has given rise to concerns about potentially negative impacts of these evolutions for vulnerable groups of players, such as children. As a result of these concerns, policymakers and regulators at different levels have started to address the topic of gambling-like elements. This chapter discusses the applicable rules from different legal domains applicable to the topic of gambling-like elements in videogames.

摘要
