This chapter explains the scope, relevance and structure of the research presented in this book. The scope of the research is on the application of the human rights to privacy (and data protection), to freedom of expression and to science, to the domains of information security, encryption and quantum computing. The analytical framework for this exercise understands information security as a continuous cycle of making and breaking, and the relationship between encryption and quantum computing as an example of this.
