Professors A. R. Hall, D. J. de Solla Price, T. Kuhn, M. B. Hall and J. L. E. Dreyer have seriously misdescribed the ‘equivalence’ of geostatic and heliostatic astronomy, as well as that between the Copernican and Tychonic systems. Nothing less than our full understanding of the development of planetary theory is at stake here. Hence a critical analysis of the claims and intentions of these distinguished historians may be tolerable.

摘要

Professors A. R. Hall, D. J. de Solla Price, T. Kuhn, M. B. Hall and J. L. E. Dreyer have seriously misdescribed the ‘equivalence’ of geostatic and heliostatic astronomy, as well as that between the Copernican and Tychonic systems. Nothing less than our full understanding of the development of planetary theory is at stake here. Hence a critical analysis of the claims and intentions of these distinguished historians may be tolerable.
