Device for Testing the Thrust of Small Rocket Engines
摘要
Breakthroughs in satellite technology enabled the gathering of enormous quantities of data regarding our planet, from weather predictions to sea-level and underground water levels measuring. Today, the only method of putting satellites into orbit is via rockets. The thrust curve of rocket engines is one of the key parameters of successful spaceflight. Providing a reliable way of measuring the thrust of rocket engines in discrete time intervals is therefore of paramount importance. This work covers the design and manufacturing process of a simple device built for that purpose using a load cell for measuring the force and an ESP32 microcontroller for gathering and transmitting the measured thrust data via Bluetooth. A Python program with a user interface collects the transmitted data and organizes it, in the end producing a thrust curve diagram.
