The presented research investigates the challenges and opportunities associated with photovoltaic (PV) systemsPhotovoltaic system in Serbian households, focusing on cost efficiency, environmental benefits, and energy independence. Leveraging publicly available data and a case study, the research provides a comprehensive analysis of PV viability in the Republic of Serbia, especially within the framework of the prosumer model and net measuringMeasuring. The study explores the impact of Serbia's legislative frameworks, including incentives and net metering policies, on household PV adoption. Additionally, it examines the economic implications of Serbia's dual tariff structure, highlighting how PV systems can reduce electricity costs and contribute to grid stability. A key finding reveals that optimizing PV systems capacity and considering storage options significantly affect return on investment and long-term energy savings. While properly dimensioned PV system installations prove cost-effective, additional investment in storage, despite benefits in energy independence, extends the return on investment period considerably. The findings suggest that, although PV systems present substantial benefits, improvements in policy support, storage technology, and grid infrastructure are crucial for maximizing PV potential. Future research should focus on optimizing storage solutions, integrating dynamic tariff systemsTariff system, and developing advanced grid management techniques to enhance the overall impact of PV systems in Serbia’s energy landscape.
