In this chapter, the Black Sea region is examined as a critical hub in the global energy landscape, recognized for its abundant resources, strategic importance, and its role in connecting major energy markets. Bordered by six countries, it has become a key corridor for energy transportation and production. The chapter explores the existing and planned energy infrastructure, focusing on gas and oil reserves, such as Türkiye’s Sakarya gas field, and offshore projects in Romania such as the Neptun Deep project. Additionally, the region’s energy connectivity is enhanced through vital pipelines and new projects that link Europe, Asia, and beyond. The Black Sea also holds significant potential for renewable energy, especially offshore wind power, supporting global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The chapter highlights how investments in the Black Sea’s energy sector can improve regional energy independence while addressing geopolitical and environmental challenges, cementing its role in global energy security and sustainability.
