Schubert’s D minor string quartet D 810, entitled Der Tod und das Mädchen, was composed in March 1824, after an alleged prolonged crisis 1818–1823 (12). Schubert had financial and health difficulties, as has been previously highlighted. He left many of his compositions unfinished during that period, which led some musicologists to assume that Schubert might have experienced the mentioned creative crisis.
