This chapter analyzes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the academic writing process. Support ranges from structuring the work and developing individual chapters to formulating and optimizing language. AI systems are particularly helpful in developing argumentation structures, overcoming writer’s block, and improving linguistic style. The chapter presents various prompts and application scenarios that enable users to create outlines, elaborate microstructures, or critically reflect on existing texts. The role of AI as a tool to foster independent thinking and argumentative precision is emphasized. The examples demonstrate how AI can serve effectively as a writing coach and analytical assistant without replacing the creative and reflective contributions of the writer. The aim is to make academic writing more productive, structured, and of higher quality by combining human expertise with machine support.
