The Causes of Addiction
摘要
The causes of consumerism and luxury addiction are multifaceted. This chapter analyzes individual risk factors such as personality traits, emotional instability, and lack of impulse control. The influence of external factors—particularly advertising, social media, and societal consumption norms—is also critically examined. The chapter highlights how digital platforms create personalized purchase incentives to entice consumers into ever-increasing consumption frequency. Furthermore, it addresses how deeply cultural narratives of prosperity and material security are embedded in our self-concept and foster compulsive buying behavior.
