DevOps is a portmanteau of Development (software development) and Operations (software deployment in production systems). The first documented appearance of DevOps in the IT industry was in 2009. In DevOps, specialists from various disciplines, such as development and operations, work together so that potential issues between specification and deployment can be identified and avoided early on. In particular, the aim is to break down the “silo mentality” of the different disciplines. The CALMS core principles and the DevOps life cycle are described in detail.
