In this chapter, we demonstrate that rapidly changing relativistic masses can be the sources of distortions in spacetime. These distortions are called gravitational waves and propagate similarly to electromagnetic waves at the speed of light. There are many important sources of gravitational waves in the universe, e.g., binary star systems or black holes, supernova explosions, and the Big Bang itself.

摘要

In this chapter, we demonstrate that rapidly changing relativistic masses can be the sources of distortions in spacetime. These distortions are called gravitational waves and propagate similarly to electromagnetic waves at the speed of light. There are many important sources of gravitational waves in the universe, e.g., binary star systems or black holes, supernova explosions, and the Big Bang itself.
