In this chapter, we examine two important energy-momentum tensors, the energy-momentum tensor of incoherent matter (of dust) and that of an ideal fluid. By fluid, we mean a continuous collection of particles that occupy a certain volume but have no specific shape. Fluids thus include liquids and gases.
