In this chapter, we describe how space and time were imagined in the times of Galilei and Newton and which principles of physics can be derived from these ideas. The first Newtonian law states that a point mass does not change its state of motion - whether it is at rest or moving at a constant speed - if no external force acts on it. The first Newtonian law thus does not distinguish between a point mass at rest and one moving at a constant speed.

摘要

In this chapter, we describe how space and time were imagined in the times of Galilei and Newton and which principles of physics can be derived from these ideas. The first Newtonian law states that a point mass does not change its state of motion - whether it is at rest or moving at a constant speed - if no external force acts on it. The first Newtonian law thus does not distinguish between a point mass at rest and one moving at a constant speed.
